Photo Diary: Hitchin Lavender

Monday, 1 August 2016

Long distance relationships suck, but one of the only positives of living so far from one another is that we each get to explore a different part of the country that we wouldn't ordinarily visit.

Only 2 miles outside of town centre lies Hitchin Lavender - one of the most beautiful fields I've seen!
Between June and August the field becomes a sheet of violet. The fields are open to the public, who can just visit or can also pick handfuls of fresh lavender to take home with them.

On arrival you pay your entry fee (only £4.50) and are handed a paper bag and scissors - and away you go!

This was my idea of heaven, as long as the bees kept away from me!
If you have a bee phobia or overly ticklish legs this isn't for you!

Trying to stop the bees from flying up my dress...

My goody bag to take home. Now to decide what I can do with it... anyone know how to make lavender oil?
