Every January I always really crave a mini-break.
After a pretty stressful day at work just after the Christmas break, I decided to browse a few Airbnb properties, which promptly turned into me booking one!

I chose a little place near the seaside as 'an end of the month treat' for myself and Sammy. It was also a really good opportunity to get Sam back as he is always the one to organise cute surprises for me. I am AWFUL at keeping secrets when I'm excited - it was an excruciating few weeks!
Thank goodness the sun was shining. (I promise Sam was more excited than he looks haha!)
Making our way into town...
Being a Northener Sam had never been to Dorset before - I know crazy, I have so many lovely memories of afternoons on the beach in Lyme so was really keen to show him around.
And why did I bother to blow dry my hair that morning?...windswept as always.
A pretty empty looking harbour.
Mid-afternoon San Miguel/Thatchers break at the Royal Standard. This beer garden is so sheltered, absolutely perfect for a sunny winter's day!
Vintage shop browsing...
A little afternoon shower meant we ended up visiting the super cute Bell Cliff Tea Rooms.
Their cream tea was to die for - warm scones = heaven!
After an afternoon of wandering around the high street and showing Sam the sights of Lyme we headed up to our Airbnb.
I had booked a studio apartment, it was fully furnished with a little kitchen, TV & a wide selection of DVDs, beautiful bathroom, Egyptian cotton towels and even yummy biscuits - our hosts had really thought of everything.
The room was beautifully decorated - so appropriate for the location.
Dinner at the Harbour Inn, which I would highly recommend.
The food was delicious - I have never eaten so many Mussels, and the staff were so friendly and attentive.

Sunday morning cup of tea in bed, trying to make the most of our pretty coastal studio before we had to check out and endure the seriously wet weather.
Visiting the beach on our final morning complete with our super warm/windproof/waterproff/Doreset-proof Quba coats - can you tell we're British?!
Such a perfect weekend getaway, does it have to be Monday tomorrow?
Note. Some photos courtesy of my personal photographer - Sam.
