I love a good TED Talk and this one has really inspired me today.
Tomsilav talks of how he travelled the world on next to no money and the best ways in which people can also do the same, but what really interested me was his outlook on when you actually get home from travelling and the weird scenario you find yourself in, something which I've been really struggling with for the past few months.
You have seen so much, met so many people, you feel a changed person, full of life and pure admiration for the world. However you get home and nothing has changed, even though you yourself feel like a totally new person. Like he said people are working in the same jobs, talking about the same things, going to the same places, the excitement of the meeting new people from all over the world each day is lost as is the challenge of working out how you're going to get to your next destination or how you're going to attempt to communicate with someone even though you don't share a language.
Like Tomsilav, I too feel like I have two choices either to settle, really put all my energy into further building my career, finding a house etc. here in the UK or whether I should save, pack up my backpack and hit the road again. I'm still not 100% decided, but I also don't feel any pressure to make a hasty decision. I totally agree with him when he says that we need to keep that intensity of travelling with us no matter where we are, which is partly why I decided to carry on this blog.
