A Day in Dunster, Somerset

Sunday, 4 March 2018

I'll admit it, I always used to judge people who had a National Trust membership, that was until just over a year my grandparents treated Sam and I to memberships for Christmas, since then we've been converts and always desperate to visit and tick all the places! Such a fab way to visit new places on a budget.

A few weeks ago we decided to pay a visit to Dunster Castle, somewhere I had only visited as a child. The main draw is obviously the castle but unfortunately the castle was closed until the spring, but we were sure to make the most of wandering through the tropical gardens. How cute is that bridge!

After stopping off for a cheeky slice of cake and hot chocolate in the cafe garden we continued into the old mill and the found ourselves within the actual village of Dunster.

Dunster itself is such a cute little village, everything seems miniature against the castle! And it is honestly so so peaceful, that particular week had been really stressful for me at work and I was really craving some silence, like actual real silence, and despite the odd car Dunster was exactly what I needed.

Yay spring is coming!

At just over an hour away from Bristol this is such an easy day out but it made us feel like we had travelled a lot further. Don't be drawn into the 'big lights' of Minehead though, it was total anti-climax after wandering around the village for most the day.
